Remember - for long-term maintenance health - being creative in the kitchen is important. Our past will always draw us back to what's easy and shout to us, "you are bored with this." I don't know about you, but when I get bored, I start looking for alternatives. I told someone last night, I made chicken, steamed broccoli/cauliflower, almond flour "cornbread" and stewed apples with xylitol, butter, and pumpkin pie spices that we added a little half and half to while they were warm. YUMMY!!!! I gotta keep exploring with healthy, life-long foods so that my body can enjoy all that God created but in a healthy fashion. I know it takes some time in the kitchen, but I would rather do that than cry when my pants won't button in the morning. I went yesterday and got my xylitol for holiday cooking. I bought three large bags - guess I plan to be "in the kitchen." :) Almond flour arrived last week - bring it on. I love a good challenge and loosing weight through the holidays and still enjoying parties is mine for this year. I will keep you posted.
Also - just a reminder - watch your calories. On phase 3-4 maintenance, we can use half and half. I have been thinking I was drinking a lot in my coffee. I was "thinking" right. :) So yesterday I actually measured not once but twice the amount I am drinking each morning. YIKES! I like my coffee light - but who knew it was that many calories? I said all that to say this - while I don't count calories, they do matter. We must always keep a watchful eye on everything we put in our mouths. Remember, "too much of a good thing is TOO MUCH." Even though I can make "cornbread" that is yummy (and healthy), I had to limit myself last night. Our new life includes enjoying lots of healthy foods - but even then we can gain weight if we over eat. Stick to the basic plan - it works. Two proteins, different fruits, different veggies EVERYDAY and healthy fats (phase 3-4). I challenge you - are you still getting in the lean proteins, and lots of color on your plate at least two meals daily???? I have to watch myself - like last week during the conference - on the run - grab a handful of nuts. NO! They are great, but our cells need all the things we do to reproduce. Keep fighting for YOU - you are your biggest advocate and I am right behind you.
Choose life and eat to live,
PK
