April 8, 2013 - Math That Isn't Simple
Good morning to you all,
Sorry this is late, I have been working this morning and looked up and was shocked at the time. :) Anyway, I won't be long.
We had some yummy new recipes to share at Life Group yesterday. Thanks to those who attended and Linda, you always SHINE! I love our group. We only have 2 more for the spring/summer - May and June. We will take July and August off. Our May meeting will be a "grill experience." More details to follow, but we will definitely fire up the grill and play with the meats and veggies.
Today, just a quick word that God placed on my heart about Math. Logically, when we think about numbers, we KNOW that 1+1=2. That's way simple. But I heard the Lord say this morning, "1+1 does not always equal 2." Ahhh.....so when I started pondering, I felt this - one brownie + one brownie = a LOT more than just two brownies many times. One brownie plus another brownie equals two brownies PLUS guilt, cravings for another brownie, hiding the third brownie and whatever else our stomachs say. One brownie may not undo the math, but the "addition" of another brownie may. On the other had, DIVIDING the brownie, and saving it for later in the week, may be a great option for some of you. Even for me with a sugar free version, 1+1= too many. :)
Moral of the story - addition is a mathematical necessity, but when considering portion sizes that often lead to things we hate to experience, division may be our best choice. Funny how I wake up with something so small in my heart to share and yet it's a reminder to us all that we cannot ADD more than we need and can process or we will show the results often in our emotions or the scales.
Have a great Monday and remember with a smile - you matter to God. PK
